Stacey’s support for Manchester teenager

Funeral Arranger Stacey Booth from G W Turner funeral directors in Stockport organised a fundraising event for Manchester teenage cystic fibrosis sufferer Chloe Hopkins that netted £1,217.36.

The event, ‘Chloe’s Journey to Lung Transplant’, in aid of the 19 year old from Newton Heath, raised the cash for Chloe’s bucket list,
awareness of the condition and the organ-donor register.

The teenager has been told that without a double lung transplant she has less than two years to live and decided in order to live life to the full she would create a bucket list.

Her story featured in the Manchester Evening News, The Mirror and The Daily Mail. The January event at the Eight Bells pub in Failsworth included a buffet, disco, with Michael Carden (Area Development Manager for the North West Region) at the turntables, an information stall and a raffle, whereprizes included a tour of the Houses of Parliament with tea for two.

The night attracted plenty of generous people including the former leader of Oldham Council Jim McMahon OBE MP. Staff from various branches in the North West area who attended included Dale Anderson (Funeral Service Operative), Dave Cowan (Diary Manager North West Region), Chloe Allman and Laura Tunnicliffe (Funeral Arranger).

Claire Hopkins, Chloe’s sister, said: ‘Stacey, you’ve made a massive difference to Chloe’s life and also mine. You’re a lovely person and we can’t thank you enough.” Dale Anderson said: ‘Stacey, you are a credit to everybody, what a great person you are for making this happen.” Stacey said: “It was a fantastic night. As well as raising the money we raised awareness of cystic fibrosis and had many people sign up to the organ donor register on the night, which was amazing.”

Funeral Partners donated a hamper and Julian Hodgkinson (Regional Development Director for North of England and Scotland)
donated a bottle of champagne.
